**Monday to Friday

  • 37.5hrs per week**
    Hybrid working available

£25,000- £28,000 per annum

About the role
To provide full payroll processing and administrative duties necessary to produce the monthly payroll runs. Processing of all variables required to calculate the final payments to each employee, challenge the inputs and outputs received and to produce a payroll file ready for finance sign off


What you will be doing

  • Liaison with third party payroll providers (currently operate with two external providers)
  • Once checked and validated inputting all starters and leavers' information into the payroll system
  • Checking all overtime hours worked by employees and inputting into the payroll system. Weekly overtime reporting requirements to senior management
  • Checking and inputting any other variables to the payroll run and inputting into the system
  • Calculation of enhanced holiday pay in line with current legislation
  • Calculation of SSP in line with company policy
  • Liaising with department managers to meet processing deadlines
  • Processing HMRC instructions relating to tax codes
  • Processing Court issued orders relating to deduction of earnings
  • Checking and validating monthly pension contribution deductions
  • Completing payroll reports for recordkeeping purposes or managerial review
  • Maintaining payroll processing system and records by gathering and inputting update data
  • Investigating and responding to staff payroll queries
  • Maintaining the Payroll change log
  • Input into P11d and end of year tax information
  • Calculation of payroll adjustments in line with any government guidance in force at the time
  • Calculation of monthly new auto enrolment joiners and obtaining sign off from line manager for additions
  • Submission of auto enrolment pension information to Scottish Widows
  • Collation of data for gender pay gap reporting
  • Ad hoc payroll data analysis as required
  • Apprenticeship Levy maintaining detailed records of funds available

About You

  • A self starter with the ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised when required
  • An experienced payroll professional with experience of running a large payroll with multiple sites and variables
  • A proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks across payroll and meet all deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Adaptability
  • Good communication skills
  • Familiar with Excel and Word
  • Strong numeracy skills and ability to share complex payroll information in an easy to understand format
  • A financial background/experience
