Three exciting opportunities have arisen to join the Sheffield Stroke Speech & Language Therapy team as a Speech & Language therapy assistant.

These posts are each in a different area of the stroke pathway.

  • SLTA on the acute wards and acute stroke wards at RHH (3.5 days per week)
  • SLTA at the Stroke Pathway Assessment and Rehab Centre SPARC at Beech Hill (Full time)
  • SLTA in the Community Stroke Service ( 3 days per week, car driver required)


To assist the Speech & Language Therapist/s in providing therapy to a defined population of adults with communication, cognitive and/or swallowing difficulties.


Your input will provide cover to patients across the stroke pathway but primarily you will provide cover in the Community Stroke Service.

You will work under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist and will be involved in communication therapy programmes, swallowing therapy programmes, multidisciplinary team work, staff and carer training, as well as having general duties within the team.

Please note this advertisement can be appointed as either a full time or part time opportunity.


The SLT service across both the acute and community teams in STH has approximately 55 staff (47 therapists, 7 assistants and 4 secretarial staff wte).
