Our Environment and Sustainability team provides strategic environmental consultancy services across transport, utilities, defence and local government infrastructure.

The team has a diverse range of skilled people with expertise in ecology, noise, air quality, landscape, arboricultural services, archaeology, carbon modelling, EIA coordination, EMS and auditing, and GIS specialists, servicing the environmental consulting needs within the wider Amey group.


The role:


Amey Consulting has an opportunity for an Senior Air Quality Consultant to join our expanding Environment & Sustainability team to work on and lead a variety of exciting projects.

This includes high profile, strategic linear infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on highways, rail and development sectors. Our expanding portfolio includes commissions with Transport Scotland, Transport Northern Ireland, Highways England, Local Government and private sector clients.


As an ambitious environmental professional, you will be given the support and freedom to play a key role in the development of our evolving air quality team allowing you to grow your knowledge and experience.

You will be provided with autonomy and support to assume leadership on projects, develop client relationships, and to identify business development opportunities.

This is an opportunity to join a highly motivated, ambitious and rapidly expanding team with the support to develop your technical expertise as you deliver genuinely interesting and challenging projects.


We want to hear from you if:


Essential Skills and Knowledge:


  • Working knowledge of UK air quality legislation, policy and guidance (LAQM.TG16, IAQM Guidance etc);
  • Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads Bridges (DMRB), webTAG assessments and the impact appraisal process;
  • Knowledge of air quality modelling software package, e.g., ADMS-Roads and AERMOD;
  • Knowledge of industrial emissions, stack height (H1) assessments and the environmental permitting regime;
  • Air quality monitoring studies including interpretation data and reporting data;
  • GIS software: QGIS, ArcGIS etc;
  • Ability to write high quality, thorough and wellstructured reports;
  • Preparation of scope of works and fee proposals;
  • Project, cost and people management experience;
  • Ability to critically review deliverables and to mentor junior staff, working together to deliver robust, defensible and highquality outputs; and
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise and adapt to meet tight delivery deadlines.

Desirable Experience:


  • Previous demonstrable experience of air quality and environmental consultancies;
  • Demonstrable experience in liaising with designers and transport planners on infrastructure projects, particularly within the road and rail transport sectors;
  • Delivering air quality assessments to inform optimum design, as well as assess and mitigate impacts;
  • Financial accountability for projects and delivery within budget and programme plus wider contribution to financial performance for the Amey Environment and Sustainability Team.

Qualifications:


  • Degree in single science, maths, meteorology, engineering, environmental science and/or post graduate degree in an air quality related topic;
  • Full Membership of Institute of Air Quality Management, Institution of Environmental Sciences, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (or equivalent); and
  • Chartered Environmentalist or Scientist (or equivalent).
