Fast-growing and ambitious business based its headquarters in Blackburn seeks a Finance Manager as an addition to their team.


This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your own ideas and experience to the role and to develop a rhythm and consistency to the monthly management reporting and overall financial accounting and reporting capability.

It will require a positive 'can-do'attitude and an ability to challenge current ways of working where appropriate.

This position will suit a professional, confident individual who is comfortable working within a fast-paced environment.

Previous experience within a financial control and management accounting role is essential. Experience within the e-commerce sector would be great but not essential.

This role will report into the Managing Director.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Preparation and analysis of actual results on via daily sales and monthly KPI's
  • Establish and manage monthend and yearend close process
  • Prepare and issue timely monthly management accounts
  • Coordinate the preparation of and submit regulatory reporting (VAT, PAYE)
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Prepare hire purchase reconciliations
  • Annual accounts
  • Submit annual confirmation statements
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Spend control and optimization
  • Support the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Manage the finance assistant
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Key Requirements

  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified/nearly qual
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the monthend/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and excel skills
  • Selfstarter, uses initiative to problem solve
  • Seeks to implement and improve processes
  • Strong number/analytical and technical skills
  • Can confidently prioritise workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Additional controller duties as necessary

Requirements and skills

  • Qualified ACA, CIMA
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the monthend/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and excel skills
