Role and Responsibilities
- Actively supporting Level 3 / Coordinator by stepping in whenever necessary
- Being a Mentor to an individual child, which includes (but is not exclusive to):
- Reading and absorbing the information on the child's referral form
- Reading and absorbing the information on the child's EHCP
- Working collaboratively with parents / carers
- Communicating with the Administrator for Alternative Provision to ensure important messages are passed on
- Supporting the child to enjoy forest school in a safe manner
- Holding the space for the child so they feel safe in your presence
- Being the child's advocate if needed
- Takes active role in delegated tasks including (but not exclusive to):
- Set up / pack down
- Plan for day
- Check in for adults and children
- Camp caretaker cooking / cleaning up / checking water
- Fire Monitor collect wood / tend fire / maintain fire safety
- Tool Control lay out / organise blackboard / maintain control of tool location / clean tools / put away
- Competent with Basecamp training can be given
- Writes weekly update on 121 progress and areas for improvement to feedback to referrer
- Contribute towards Report writing / debrief
- Policy and procedure knowledge and accountability this is all in the Handbook
- Time keeping
- Incident report writing or Safeguarding reports
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Level 2 Forest School Assistant or equivalent experience or in training for Level 2
Other relevant qualifications will be considered, e.g. Mental Health training, experience with working with SEMH children, experience working with Alternative Provision.
