The Growth Company (GC) is looking to recruit a Compliance Officer who will develop and maintain robust claims and compliance systems and processes (including the oversight and processing of subcontractor invoices, or claims), to enable the efficient and effective delivery of programmes and ensure accurate allocation of costs, taking into account complex cross-project relationships; robust verification of output and results evidence; and accurate and timely submission of funder claims, thus ensuring effective recovery of expenditure and a high degree of compliance with funders' contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To evaluate and verify GC Business team and subcontractor claim submissions, both expenditure and output and results.
  • To verify GC Business and subcontractor claim supporting evidence and thus ensure a fully compliant audit trail is provided to support eligible values claimed.
  • To review and verify GC Business and subcontractor core output evidence, ensuring it complies with funder regulations, is complete, and provides a robust justification for the claim.
  • To manage the receipt and logging of project Output and Results evidence for assigned contracts.
  • Verify and compile documents and evidence required to support project expenditure, e.g. expenses, purchase orders, and procurement documents/data and evidence.
  • To investigate expenditure and evidence queries, ensuring all the required supporting information, such as procurement backing evidence, apportionment evidence, coding, eligibility, etc. is in place.
  • Creating and maintaining appropriate filing and document management systems for publicly funded contract paperwork and audit trails, and the preparation of evidence for funder audits.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of appropriate systems that ensure timely, efficient, and accurate claim processes to ensure the smooth running of the GC Business Contracts.
  • Guide and support the project delivery teams concerning both financial and impactrelated issues to ensure a high level of compliance with funder regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Play a key part in the preparation and delivery of funder audits, ensuring audit trails are comprehensive, fully compliant, and wellpresented.

About You:


  • Compiling or contributing to the process of compiling claims.
  • A track record of delivering a high standard of accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Accounting experience (desirable but not essential).
  • A working knowledge of project claims processing and contract management systems/processes.
  • Knowledge of public funding contracts, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Selfstarter, able to work on own initiative prioritising workloads and tasks effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively to enable objectives to be consistently met.

Skills and experience required:


  • Relevant degree/or administrative or / professional qualification or equivalent business experience.
  • Numerically literate with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Use of Excel Spreadsheets to an intermediate/advanced level.
  • Confidence and ability to deal effectively with financial/accounting information, audit processes, and associated systems.
  • Ability to understand and manipulate complex data sets with a high level of accuracy.
  • Able to effectively manage a broad range of contract performance and financial issues.
  • Ability to work with complex data sets to produce information with a high degree of accuracy to tight deadlines and the ability to communicate difficult issues effectively and thus build strong, positive relationships across project teams.

This post will be initially funded under the UKSPF programme
