  • Job DescriptionThe role is based at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough. You will be working in the Fleet Department as part of a Team of four Transport Officers supporting operational policing by providing an effective delivery/collection service of all types of Fleet vehicles to and from the workshop in St Ives.

Key responsibilities are:
Working with minimum supervision, undertake ferrying of vehicles to/from workshops, dealerships, converters etc. Collection and delivery of vehicle spare parts to workshop to minimise vehicle downtime and therefore support operational Policing. Travel to Police Stations (where there are no vehicle workshop facilities) to start vehicles (with flat batteries etc.) Change wheels,

Undertake daily tasks on vehicles including checking fluid levels, tyre condition etc. Valet force vehicles (interior and exterior). Check vehicle logbooks for recorded defects and service mileage. Check vehicle for body damage and report any damage to the Fleet Department. Additionally assist in maintaining a clean, safe working environment.

Undertake day to day administration of the Traka system to ensure it is working correctly. Ensure all new vehicles are allocated to a Traka position and remove vehicles going for disposal.

Report faults and liaise with Traka Tech Support to resolve any faults reported with the cabinets prior to engineer attendance.

Make sure all new vehicles are delivered with necessary equipment, such as fuel card and logbook.

We are looking for someone who possesses the following skills:

  • The post holder must have a full UK Driving Licence (max. 3 points)
  • Qualified to drive vehicles in Groups B, C1, D
  • Vocational experience of driving light commercial vehicles Group C
  • Vehicle valet experience in a commercial / work environment
  • Work based experience of driver vehicle maintenance tasks. Experience of driving Group B+E
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Cambridgeshire
  • Previous customer facing experience.
  • Good fitness standard to undertake tasks involved.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working
  • Ability to work unsupervised
