Job Overview
To develop, coordinate and deliver Diversity Role Models' (DRM) activity in the North West of England. This will include engaging schools, managing projects, facilitating workshops, growing and engaging a community of volunteers and building relationships.

The role will typically see you deliver an average of two to three days a week during term time in North West schools and other settings.

Given the nature of the role we will only be considering applicants who are able to travel to schools for 8am across the region.


Diversity Role Models (DRM) is a LGBTQ+ education and anti-bullying charity with a vision of a world where everybody embraces diversity and can thrive.

DRM's unique approach to embedding inclusion and building empathy is through educational workshops in schools featuring LGBTQ+ and ally role models.


We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and organised Education Officer to join our Education Team who will lead, develop and coordinate DRM's educational activities in the North West of England, with a focus on school and college delivery.


Working in our Education Team and reporting in to the Education Manager (North West), you'd have the opportunity to manage and deliver workshops to young people in a range of educational settings as well as deliver training to school staff, trainee teachers, governors and parents/carers.

You'd also support the team in training new volunteers to empower them to deliver high quality educational experiences in schools and support the Education Team in creating resources to support schools in embedding LGBTQ+ inclusion into their curriculum.


Key Accountabilities

  • Strategy_
  • To develop the North West hub for Diversity Role Models in line with the charity's strategic objectives;
  • To meet any targets set for funded projects in the North West and project manage local programmes.
  • Delivery_
  • Recruit and build strong relationships with schools;
  • Manage the booking process for schools from generating and processing enquiries, inputting bookings onto our CRM system (_Salesforce) _to delivering and closing off opportunities;
  • Deliver pupil workshops on LGBTQ+ inclusion in a range of school settings, including primary, secondary, SEND schools, faith schools, FE colleges and Alternative Provision;
  • Deliver staff, governor and parent/carer training as part of DRM's whole school approach offering;
  • Deliver work within nonschool settings as appropriate, including delivering training via initial teacher education providers and workplaces;
  • Deliver regional training for key volunteer roles, including Role Models and Facilitators;
  • Meet or exceed KPI targets for delivery for the region including through managing funded projects in the area.

  • Maintain databases and complete regular reporting within the agreed timelines;
  • Work with the Head of Education and Education Team to develop new educational materials;
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to ensure schools have an efficient and seamless booking process from initial inquiry to postdelivery.
  • Stakeholder Management_
  • Maintain good and regular relations with the wider team, supporting them as needed.
  • Develop and sustain positive relationships with volunteers within the region, keeping them motivated, engaged and active;
  • Recruit new volunteers through engaging with community groups and workplaces in the region;
  • Liaise with key stakeholders from schools, corporates, and community organisations and maintain and grow relationships.

Person Specification

Essential:


  • Experience working or volunteering with young people, including on sensitive topics.
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and flexibility to deliver projects in a timely manner.
  • An understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and issues, especially in relation to education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • The ability to influence and build positive relationships.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills and experience delivering training.
  • Able to be proactive, work under pressure and have a willingness to support the wider team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to travel and work in schools up to 3 days per week, including occasional weekend work and overnight stays.
  • Willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS check in line with our Safeguarding Policy
  • Located in the North West and able to travel across the region, sometimes at short notice, for 8am starts in schools.

Desirable:


  • Experience delivering training and/or presentations to adults, including on sensitive topics.
  • Confident using Salesforce or similar CR
