Description
This is an important job with Possabilities CIC. That's because we regard every one of our jobs as important. We want people who are passionate, caring and fun. If this sounds a bit like you then carry on reading. You'll find all you need to know in this job description. If there's something you are not clear about please ask us if you are invited for an interview.

Where?
We work in many locations, mainly across the Oldham MBC area.

The advert you responded to will tell you your main working location, but you may be asked to work in another location to best meet the needs of individuals we provide services to.

What?
Personal Assistants have a wide range of duties and tasks. There's more about these later.

The main aim is to provide the best personalised support to our service users whether they are in Supported Living, Day Services, Respite or Outreach.

Rewards
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. The starting salary for a Personal Assistant is £21,029.27 per annum (pro rata for part time).

We will pay up to an additional 4% of your salary into a pension plan for you, which will grow every year until you retire.

You will have a chance to progress. We give you training and help you gain your care certificate and Diploma qualifications.

You may be required to sleep-in overnight at one of our facilities or people's homes. You'll be paid extra for this and given time off in lieu when you attend house meetings.

That's not all. You'll get twenty days paid holiday plus eight statutory bank holidays.

Who do you report to?

On a day-to-day basis, you will be working under the direction of a Team Leader, but accountable to a Senior Support Worker / Unit Leader.

The hours
Individual needs come first, and so we need a lot of flexibility when it comes to your working hours.

These will be scheduled on a rota basis with the rest of your team and can include sleep-ins; waking nights; weekends; and Bank Holidays.

The essential purpose of this job
We support adults with learning disabilities, Autism, Dementia, Mental Health and Acquired Brain Injury. They are vulnerable, that's why they need support.

That doesn't mean that they cannot decide for themselves what kind of support they want, how they want it and what services they want to access.

So helping them to achieve these things is an important part of this job.

So too is encouraging them to be active and develop connections with other people outside their circles of support; helping them to seize opportunities like getting a job or taking part in leisure or learning activities.

You'll help them to look after the places where they live and to reach their full potential, becoming as independent as they can be.

We'll teach you all about positive risk taking and how to encourage it so that individuals can live as normal a life as possible.

Just like you, they and their families have a right to dignity, diversity and to be an individual. You are there to make sure that these things are respected and maintained.

You may be asked to provide support services for children and young people.

We expect our staff to demonstrate positive attitudes and be a positive role model whilst supporting children and young people.
