UNISON Recruiter Caseworker Job Advert
We are recruiting for two Recruiter Caseworkers to work in the sites that the Branch covers across South Yorkshire.


The role will involve raising the profile of UNISON in our workplace, recruiting members, directing members to the Branch and supporting members with queries.


This job role requires you to travel to different sites across the large geographical area that the Branch covers in an effective and efficient manner - you will require your own vehicle.

You will work in public and private sector sites, autonomously to a recruitment plan laid out by the relevant Branch.

The job role is to raise the profile of UNISON and recruit members across the sites covered. This will involve conversations with non-members, promoting UNISON values and highlighting the benefits of UNISON membership to eligible staff.


The post holder will need to be able to work on their own initiative to manage workload effectively and respond positively to busy environments.

Advertised wage is pro-rata.


Required skills:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and comply with, information governance, confidentiality and data protection issues; handle a range of confidential information on the Branches IT systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, persuasive, and conflict resolution skills
  • Deal tactfully and appropriately with staff, managers and external parties, especially when providing sensitive information, both verbally and electronically
  • High level of competency in all Microsoft Office Applications
  • Able to prioritise workload through discussion with manager and work autonomously within agreed processes and timescales when faced with regular interruptions
  • Able to work as part of a team and be flexible in providing support and to coordinate and plan meetings, recruitment events, outreach, etc.
  • Able to complete allocated tasks within agreed timescales and to a high standard
  • To be able to manage time effectively and be reactive to unpredictable developments
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and complete further training.
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Excellent ability to investigate and research into a set of alleged facts and arrive at a set of reliable and accurate conclusions if required
  • Giving accurate initial advice on a variety of employment related issues, seeking support as appropriate, signposting as required to the Branch
  • Discretion to act on own initiative in accordance with Branch policy and procedures and is accountable for own actions, referring to the Branch Secretary or team colleagues if the need arises
  • Comply with GDPR at all times

Desirable skills:


  • Previous experience in an office environment, customer relations and campaigning
  • Experience of supporting people through times of crisis or similar casework role
  • Experience of advocacy and representation at hearings / dispute resolution / negotiations
  • Experience of effectively planning and organising workload (e.g. in order to meet deadlines)
  • Knowledge or experience in employment law issues, e.g. steward
  • Experience or an understanding of working in a similar working environment, e.g. a Trade Union or other notforprofit organisation
  • Experience or an understanding of the workings of the NHS and wider health economy

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 11 months


Salary:
£23,949.00 per year
