We are looking for an experienced social work practitioner to join Caerphilly Council's Children Services Department as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO).


  • A professional social work qualification
  • Significant experience in children's social work
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Experience and understanding of child protection
  • Experience and understanding of the children looked after process
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to produce reports to deadlines.
  • Decision making and judgement skills
  • Ability to challenge appropriately
  • The ability to work from a strength based multiagency approach


Caerphilly Children Services have strong links to the Gwent Attachment Service and Caerphilly has invested in the MYST Therapeutic Service that provides intensive support to our Children who are Looked After.
