The Communications Team operates in a very busy working environment, serving a wide range of audiences including staff, patients, local and national media and key stakeholders,

The department plays a key role in managing and enhancing the reputation of the organisation.

It leads on proactive and reactive media management; communications with staff and external stakeholders; communications via the trust website; corporate publications; VIP visits; filming; social media; patient and public reviews; and communications around major incidents and times of overwhelming media interest.

The Digital Communications Officer will support the management of our digital and social channels.

They will be creative and passionate about producing high-quality written and visual content and have the ability to convey a wide variety of messages to a number of audiences.

  • The postholder will support the Digital Comms Lead as they deliver a new website and intranet project whilst also ensuring the staff intranet is updated and developed further to enable us to communicate effectively with our staff.
  • They will be expected to assist with the development of social media throughout the Trust and introduce new and effective ways for us to communicate with our wide and evergrowing audience.
  • The postholder will also be responsible for developing digital communications campaigns, creating social media content and monitoring and responding to all engagement via these channels.

KEY DUTIES
- the design and launch of a new Facebook and Twitter sites
- management of daily content
- liaise with colleagues in all departments to collate information and upload content
- research, write copy and edit the content
- produce new content and writing it in an interesting and appealing manner
- maintain current content of information
- sourcing images and artwork
- upload images and films
- maintain electronic pages ensuring the information is accurate and up to date
- dealing with enquiries via the sites and oversee any message boards.
- support the senior management team in publicising information internally and externally.

The Digital Communications Officer will have a wide range of skills, abilities and qualities that include:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Able to undertake research using a variety of sources
  • Be creative
  • Able to produce and edit video content and add subtitles
  • Able to design basic graphics for use on social and digital channels
  • Able to alter their style of writing to reflect their audience
  • Able to multitask and prioritise work schedules
  • Plan the style of copy required and the frequency with which it will need updating
  • Produce new content and writing it in an interesting and appealing manner
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to check on content, style and presentation
  • Incorporate and edit written copy from other individuals or departments
  • Maintain all pages once live, ensuring the information is accurate
  • Be computer literate and possess good keyboard skills
