The opportunity:


Job purpose


As a key member of the Demand Planning team your role will be to maximise sales for your categories through the optimisation of product availability within agreed stock budgets.

Reacting with speed to resolve issues, capitalising on opportunities to maximise sales, and managing risk effectively.

You will develop strong working relationships with Category management, Finance & Operations, as well as key suppliers, to ensure timely flow of stock into the business.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Update WSSI accurately under guidance of Line Manager, sharing observations and anomalies
  • Update weekly forecasting tool to optimise stock levels, reviewing newness, fast and slow turning product
  • Timely review and release of orders generated by forecasting tool in line with OTB requirements
  • Using the business Trade Planner and Sales reporting tools to increase forecasts ahead of promotions
  • Swift investigation into brands/product areas with low availability, fast covers, poor fulfilment to develop action plans to resolve issues
  • Develop plans to exit problematic stock in the most profitable way with colleagues in Category management team
  • Work closely with the Category management team to ensure new product launches and key upcoming promotions are planned effectively to drive strong sales performance
  • Act quickly to resolve issues with adjacent business areas; Category management, International, Trading, Master Data, Finance, Operations & Store teams
  • Under guidance of Line Manager, review and update store stock requirements to optimal levels, timely processing of store orders & working with the Category management team to resolve ranging issues
  • Support the weekly ordering of stock from Centrally managed brands as required
  • Timely forecasting of new line quantities to ensure on counter dates are achieved
  • Produce and share forecasting and range data with key suppliers in line with agreed terms
  • Through regular contact, form key relationships with critical suppliers to ensure smooth supply & resolution of issues
  • Identify & address brands where low fulfilment on key products is causing availability issues
  • Ad hoc tasks and projects as determined by the Line Manager

Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience in fashion or beauty retail merchandising
  • Numerate with strong analytical and IT skills
  • Excellent team player with a flexible approach
  • A proven track record of creating positive impact on business through merchandising
  • Good judgement and decision making skills
  • Confidence in suggesting calculated risks
  • Strong market and customer awareness
  • Passionate about product with good brand awareness
  • Brand facing professional with excellent communication skills
  • Exceptionally organised, methodical and efficient
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines within a fastpaced environment
  • Confidence to liaise with and present to colleagues at all levels throughout the Company
  • Strong negotiation skills
