Description

KEY TASKS Strategy and business case development To continuously review of digital estates projects to align to the Trust digital strategy, Future System programme digital strategy and Trusts estates and Facilities strategy.

To provide ongoing leadershipinput and support for the digital estates elements within the FSP business case process and ongoing departmental level business cases.

To develop detailed programme plans including costing, benefits and risk registers To identify best practice and learning from other organisations within and outside of the NHS with a view to enhancing the Future System digital strategy.

To contribute to policy, planning and development of services at the Trust, engaging with national networks as might be appropriate.

This will include dissemination of information to technical and non-technical colleagues at a very high standard.

To challenge existing ways of working and persuade, motivate, influence and negotiate with senior leaders in the Trust to encourage innovation in how we will deliver care in a smart hospital building.

To lead discussions that maybe challenging, often highly complex and contentious in a supportive and engaging way, regarding the procurement, implementation and adoption of smart hospital solutions that may change working practices within the trust.

To ensure key staff and stakeholders are briefed on the digital estates elements of the Future System programme.


To provide high quality written and verbal reports on the digital estates elements of the Future System programme, including to board level members, providing assurance on progress of deliverables and benefits.

To research and advise on innovative opportunities and make recommendations to digital services, estates and facilities management department and Future System programme.

To understand where these opportunities can offer benefits, are cost effective and can deliver on existing Trust strategies. To maintain regular, effective and high-quality communication with key stakeholders within the Trust and Future System programme.

This may include executives, senior clinicians, ICS and Alliance colleagues and heads of departments.

The post holder may lead a team of project managers who will assist in the delivery of complex systems within agreed time scales and budgets, across multiple departments.

Service development and transformation To bring a detailed understanding of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the associated Organisational Information Requirements (OIR), Asset Information Requirements (AIR) and the Asset Information Model (AIM) together with an understanding of the RIBA stages of design and build and Government soft landings.

To be expert / have expertise in leading successful digital change and transformation.


To bring experience in service improvement within complex strategic programmes To engage and influence estates colleagues to encourage innovation and delivery of a smart hospital building.

To understand trust and departmental priorities for intelligent hospitals. To lead on use of data to manage building infrastructure and utilisation.

To work closely with the information team to leverage clinical, construction and building data to streamline staff and service pathways throughout the new hospital building.

To utilise a variety of tools (including QI methodology, lean six Sigma, business process re engineering as examples to identify improvement opportunities within the digital estates portfolio within the trust.

To lead and deliver specific digital estates improvement initiatives from within the FSP, within agreed time scales and in collaboration with the FSP digital programme lead.

Benefits realisation To ensure that project benefits are identified and considered from the start of a project especially with respect to developing and delivering on the BIM requirements To support project managers in identifying benefits for digital estates projects.

To complete post implementation reviews to understand unintended benefits and consequences and achievement of previously identified benefits.

To maintain benefits trackers for relevant projects for digital estates outlining ongoing achievement of anticipated benefits. People management and development To maintain staff morale and engagement through effective communication and consultation. To coordinate training and ongoing development of staff particularly around BIM, digital twin, BMS etc.

To ensure this development is of a high standard and supports all levels of staff who will be working on the technologies as part of business as usual.


To work with existing digital and estates managers on talent planning for both departments to ensure succession within key posts with key skills is developed.

To produce a development plan to ensure that staff are equipped with the skills and competencies to deliver the digital and estates requirements under this remit.
