We have just agreed our new Thriving Communities Strategy that will see £12m invested in our Better Days programme, our support programme for customers, between now and 2026.


You will also join us at an important time, with our customers and society facing significant financial and wellbeing pressures.

Our new strategy will focus on the support we can give to individuals to help them fulfil their potential and also the work wecan do in local communities to create thriving places to live.


The aim of the team is to work with customers to use the investment we have to create the maximum social value we can to support environmental, economic and social wellbeing.


We work very closely with third sector partners, local authorities and government to co-design initiatives, provide grants for projects and help shape policies to improve the lives of our customers.


Your role at Orbit.
Orbit are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit a new Community Connector, based in Margate.

This role will enable us to engage with customers at a local level, ensuring we increase access to Orbit's Better Days support services and involvecustomers directly in investment plans for the local area.


Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Plan and deliver an ongoing programme of community engagement and activity events
  • Take responsibility for the marketing and customer communications for local engagement and activities
Collating data and impact of community events and activities for reports and providing feedback

  • Support the Place Area Lead in developing and promoting daytoday activities at Community Hubs and providing a regular facetoface presence
Providing Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) to Orbit customers and making customer referrals into Better Days support services

  • Build trust between customers and Orbit through local presence

What will help you make a difference.


To be successful in this role of Community Connector you will need to have experience and passion for working within local communities with a proven background of building and sustaining relationships.

You will need to be able to engage with and listen toour customers and have a good understanding of the day to day issues social housing residents may face.


It is also essential that you have:

  • Ability to deal professionally and confidently with challenging conversations and behaviours
  • Good standard of IT literacy including the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Comfortable speaking in public in front of a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to work outside standard office hours when required
  • Must have a car for business use and be willing and able to travel
  • Experience of collating monitoring and reporting data and customer feedback
