Temporary Child Information & Advice Officer MASH

Up to £14.44 per hour PAYE depending on experience


Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 3 months

A MASH Officer is required to receive and handle all initial Children's Safeguarding and Children's Social Care contacts and queries entering the MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) via telephone and written communication.

Deal effectively with enquiries across all channels from members of the public, customers, services users, internal departments and professionals from other agencies (e.g. schools, health, police) and provide advice, guidance and prompt, high quality responses to all enquiries.


Key responsibilities:

  • Prioritise the most vulnerable and at risk and recommend appropriate advice and action, escalating to social workers for advice as necessary, to ensure that all contacts are signposted to or handed over to appropriate staff and services for appropriate action.
  • Complete Requests for information from external agencies and other local authorities by reviewing the liquid logic database and providing information in accordance with GDPR and Working together to safeguard children 201
  • In addition to request information from other agencies and local authorities to assist with the MASH enquiry process.
  • Upload documents to the Liquid Logic database. Update Liquid Logic database with information on behalf of social workers (demographics, family relationships).
  • Complete Genograms and Chronologies.
  • Complete outcome letters to parents, carers and professionals.
  • Provide advice, guidance and prompt, high quality responses to all enquiries as well as a triage service for the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, signposting to the most appropriate services or directing work to appropriate professionals in line with policy guidance.

Experience:


  • Experience of working in a Multiagency team supporting children and families or Children's Social Care and/or Customer Services.
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Empathetic and sensitive to the needs of those requiring advice and support.
  • Open to working with others.
  • Passionate about maximising a child's life chances.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).

Anticipated Length of Assignment:

Unless otherwise stated (we do carry the occasional permanent vacancy) all of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent.
