We are looking for someone to join us as the Head of Food Science.

You will lead the research, development and insight and bring new opportunity to our products and operations.

You will have great industry and academic contacts and foster great relationships and partnerships in areas of scientific development relevant to our future product portfolio.


Key responsibilities:

  • Create a diverse network of thought leaders at senior levels both within academia and commercial enterprises to ensure continued development of our knowledge and expertise in cutting edge food and packaging science.
  • Identify new research activity and develop new research relationships and partnerships in areas of food and packaging science to strengthen our network of external collaboration as food science evolves.
  • Lead the programme of research activities, coordinating and aligning work undertaken across multiple research partnerships and internal investigation, prioritising work aligned to potential commercial impact.
  • Wherever possible protect the intellectual property (IP) in innovation for Yeo Valley's exclusive benefit
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of our Food Policy through the identification of best practices in natural physical and biological processing within which we can successfully operate raw material sourcing and our own production processes.
  • Contribute to our future packaging strategy through the identification of longer term opportunities to minimise our impacts whilst maintaining functionality in packaging integrity, product life and consumer appeal
  • Provide SME (Subject Matter Expertise) in influencing change through key customer relationships both with technical and commercial stakeholders.
