Description

Duties include:

  • Partnering with internal stakeholders and external parties to understand their business areas and ensure they understand financial requirements;
  • Being responsible for supporting designated stakeholders and business areas in monitoring of performance against business plans, for reporting in key financial and performance papers to the Performance Group, Finance Committee, Strategic Leadership Teamand the Board;
  • Supporting management with analysis of accurate and timely corporate management information to ensure the smooth operation of the Library including interpretation and advising on appropriate actions to address risks and opportunities;
  • Supporting SLT in the preparation of high quality business plans and business cases;
  • Preparing unit costs and relevant performance information;
  • Supporting the integrity of the financial ledgers through ensuring understanding of the business operations, i.e. recognition of income, accruals and prepayments;
  • Supporting with salary forecasting and through analysis identify risks and opportunities of managing budget variances;
  • Other duties as required.

Profile

  • Have an excellent accounting knowledge;
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to explain finance procedures and processes to nonfinance stakeholders;
  • Be studying towards a professional accountancy qualified or be qualified;
  • Have an excellent attention to detail and analyst ability.

This is a permanent role for a Finance Business Partner/Accountant, offering an outstanding benefits and study support package.

The Organisation

The British Library is a public body and are the national library of the United Kingdom, giving access to the world's most comprehensive research collection with over 170 million items.

Their finance team is predominantly based at their Boston Spa site in Yorkshire.

The Role


To adopt a business partnering approach to ensure that Finance is in a position to support but yet challenge the Library to add value through the analysis and interpretation of actual performance and opportunities across all aspects of the business.


On Offer

  • Salary banding c.35,5K44K
  • Outstanding study support package consisting of full financial support and time off for exams and study (1day for exam and 5days for study per exam)
  • Base at Boston Spa just outside of Leeds, the role will have a mix of both working from home and onsite working, with some travel requirements to the London site in St Pancras
  • Outstanding pension scheme where the organisation contributes a minimum 26.6%
