Contract Summary


Who We Are:
IMG Studios is a premier production centre with state-of-the art studios, post-production and live operations facilities.

It houses 4 HD broadcast television studios, 9 production galleries, 3 dubbing suites, 50 edit destinations, 3 radio studios, an award-winning 3D Graphics & Visual Effects team, and one of the largest data centres built specifically for digital media and broadcast in recent times.

The Master Control Room includes 5 transmission suites and monitors over 200 HD lines in & out of the building.

With its own satellite farm and direct links to many of the leading sports stadia in the UK, IMG Studios is at the centre of sports and entertainment production and distribution.


What You'll Do:


As Head of Live Technology, you will be responsible for the direction and management of all live technology and outside broadcasts for IMG.

You will work closely with the Heads of Production and Director of Engineering to be across live broadcasts from RFP through to ensuring the most suited team for delivery.


Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:

  • Management and planning of all live broadcast projects for IMG
  • Writing RFP's, working with Heads of Production and Director of Engineering to find the best technical solution based on budget and production needs
  • Responsible for any technical drawings and planning sheets required for live broadcasts
  • Managing freelance Technical Producers for on-site outside broadcasts
  • Responsible for the integration between on-site technology and IMG Studios, for remote outside broadcasts
  • Working with the Heads of Engineering at IMG Studios to plan remote production projects
  • Feed into the CapEx plans for remote production at IMG Studios, including any on-site equipment to deliver outside broadcasts smoothly
  • Working with MCR and Technical Services to manage contribution plans for remote and live OBs, whether that be Fibre, Satellite or IP
  • Managing rate card/ booking needs for events
  • There will be requirement to travel and work weekends on occasion

You Will Have The Following Strengths:

  • Previous significant managerial experience of engineering or technical teams in a live broadcast environment
  • Previous experience of running and responding to RFPs
  • Previous experience of technical planning and delivery of large scaled and varied live broadcasts
  • Comprehensive and extensive knowledge of broadcast technologies, both current and in development; including I.P. workflows, UHD HDR, OB and remote workflows, vision and audio workflows and comms
  • Experience in managing various contribution technologies, formats and processes
  • Demonstrated established relationships with clients at all levels
  • Contract management & negotiation experience
  • Demonstrable high-level experience in Technical Project Management or Technical Producing

  • Ability to keep calm and react positively in a pressured environment whilst understanding the urgency of a technical challenge
  • Ability to organise and motivate teams to provide creative solutions to technical challenges
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with management and production teams when dealing with technical problems, giving advice and explaining solutions
