Description
We are working with a local authority in Manchester to find an Auditor on a temporary basis.

Length of role:
Initial 4 months.

PAYE rate:
£24.26 per hour.


Umbrella rate:
£30.34 per hour

Role is hybrid working from home, office and on site - across Manchester - work will be undertaken on site at schools / client premises and via MS teams


The role::


  • Completing audits across children's and adults services, with a focus on schools.
  • Providing strategic and operational support to enable more effective working practices for the delivery of Council priorities.
  • Being accountable for the development of policy and governance standards and procedures and will provide support and advice on matters affecting the organisation, budget, civil and protocol matter.
  • Ensuring that robust governance measures are in place to enable effective organisational decision making.

Key duties::


  • Planning and Delivering audit work, assignments, and investigations with a particular focus on complex, technical or sensitive issues.
  • Supporting the Audit and Assurance Manager to develop and implement effective and appropriate audit and counter fraud plans that address key risks for an assigned area of Council activities.
  • Supporting the Audit and Assurance Manager to develop and implement effective and appropriate audit and counter fraud strategies and approaches to drive continuous improvement and quality of service to clients.
  • Undertaking audits, investigations and assignments of a complex, critical and/or sensitive nature to achieve improvement in the systems of governance, risk management and internal control.

Experiences required:


  • Knowledge of the statutory framework for internal audit and detailed understanding of internal audit principles and techniques
  • Appreciation of the CIPFA Code of Practice for Internal Audit in Local Government and the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards
