We have an exciting opportunity as a Lead Assurance Specialist who will report to the Group Assurance Manager.

Our regulatory framework has become increasingly more complex, with greater focus on driving and maintaining high compliance and assurance standards across the Severn Trent Group.

Our key objective is to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed our regulatory reporting, licence and statutory obligations.

Implementing a matrix approach supports us in improving our effectiveness and efficiency in this area.

This role will provide critical challenge and support across the group on assurance and where needed develop appropriate risk, compliance, and assurance frameworks.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Work with the assurance providers across the group to ensure appropriate assurance is scoped and undertaken in good time in relation to regulatory submissions, ensuring necessary 'buyin' from senior stakeholders. Work alongside other teams to coordinate and align assurance activities within the business.
  • Lead the delivery of training within the group, providing materials and content, to promote and embed best practices regarding compliance and assurance.
  • Manage external 3rd line assurance providers to ensure the right balance of assurance activities is achieved and review the outputs to ensure there is appropriate understanding of the outcomes.
  • Monitor and report upon the status of assurance actions being worked on by the business and assess the effectiveness of activities undertaken to address the risks identified.
  • Support the drafting of Audit Committee and Board papers and other stakeholder reporting.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR


The post holder will have experience in of assurance and governance process and how to access information on regulatory obligations which would be advantageous.

You'll look to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of people from senior management to front line and having experience of project and programme management, process development would be beneficial.

Having the ability to engage with senior leadership and influence change across directorates where needed to ensure effective assurance and compliance will be required.

If you have the ability to visualise and drive development of data hub for assured data and commentary would be seen as desirable.
