Colchester Institute is the largest vocational college serving North Essex and the surrounding areas.

The College is a highly successful education and skills provider, embedded as an impactful anchor institution in the local area.

With an income of around £40m, Colchester Institute provides first-class education, professional development, and technical skills training to over 8,000 young people and adults every year.

The College supports individuals to launch or develop their careers, and local businesses to access the skills and talent they need to thrive.

The College has two main campuses in Colchester and Braintree.

Over the last 12 months, we transformed our main buildings to provide outstanding new facilities supporting Business, Accounting and Computing, and Sport and Public Services.

We have opened a 40-station new state-of-the-art commercial hair salon and a brand-new beauty salon. In addition, we officially opened our new Early Years suite, which now supports T Level qualifications. We are continuing to expand our construction workshop facilities and will launch a Net Zero Centre in early 2024.

These achievements place the Colchester Institute in a fantastic position to keep evolving and expanding in response to employer and student demand.

We are now seeking a Deputy Principal to provide strategic curriculum leadership, development, and direction.

As a key part of the College's Executive Team, you will help drive the overall culture, ethos, and strategic direction of the organisation and to provide inspirational strategic and operational leadership to enable the College to deliver its mission and values.

In addition, you will develop plans and strategies to ensure that the curriculum is continually reviewed and developed to meet local priorities, provide appropriate and effective progression opportunities for learners, and achieve strong annual recruitment targets.

You will be a dynamic, proactive, and values-based leader with a moral purpose, who puts students first and has an unwavering commitment to pursue achievement for all.

An individual with integrity, who prioritises communication and collaboration, empowers others, and is visible and accessible to staff.

You will be a strategic thinker with a strong sense of vision, and an effective leader of change, with the ability to inspire and harness talent.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced leader, to work with a committed leadership team to drive forward plans for the next stages of our journey at Colchester Institute.

If you believe that you have the vision, skills, expertise, and enthusiasm to make a difference and help us realise our ambitions, we want to hear from you.
