Description

The purpose of the role will be to undertake a period of three years training, under the supervision of an identified expert clinician to prepare for progression to Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 8A).

This will involve undertaking and successfully completing work based competencies and an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.


In year 1 all trainees will be expected to successfully complete all year 1 academic modules and assessments which include; clinical examination, managing patient conditions, research methods, issues in advanced practice and a work based learning module and associated competencies.

The trainee will also be expected to maintain an up to date practice based portfolio, engaging in all work based learning events to demonstrate acceptable progress towards achieving identified competencies.

The level of direct supervision will be high in year 1.

Progression to year 2 will be dependent on successful completion of all elements of year 1 and will be reflected in the educational supervisor's end of year report.
