Maths & Science Teacher - Leeds Area - Specialist SEND Setting


You will be teaching students in an alternative provision based just North of Leeds with the aim of improving their academic, personal and social development.

This role is demanding and challenging, but very rewarding.

You will be teaching learners withAutisim in a specialist learning environment with small class sizes and high staff to student ratio.

You'll be required to use a reflexive approach to learners, their learning and needs, and be able to work creatively and proactively.

Emotional resilienceand an ability to engage learners whom may have had a negative experience of education is a must, ideally you will have experience working in a similar environment.

Job Specification

  • Differentiating teaching materials to suit learners needs at the time.
  • Managing a small team of support professionals.
  • Adhering to very specific learning plans and adding to these if required
  • Attending school events such as parent's evenings where required
  • Adapting learning to increase interaction.
  • Provide emotional support if required.
  • Encourage appropriate social interactions.
  • Maintain professional standards at all times.
Person Specification

  • Working in a similar environment or other experience of working with young people whom may present challenging behaviours.
  • Resilience and patience, compassion and understanding.
  • An ability to be proactive, creative and empathetic.
  • Have an approachable and supportive manner when liaising with team members
  • To be able to follow detailed behaviour support plans (BSPs), individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • To adhere to the school's policies and practices.
  • Ideally you will be Team Teach trained (not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
