Job Summary


An excellent development opportunity has arisen within the Supplier and Contract Management Team to build on your skills working on contracts in a range of categories and sub-categories initially in the Corproate Services sub-team.


You will be part of a dedicated team of procurement professionals responsible for negotiating and managing a variety of business critical commercial contracts and framework agreements for the provision of goods and services to NHSBT.


You will work with theSenior Commercial Managers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage the contracts end to end, to ensure that all interested parties needs are met.


You will be responsible for assisting the team managers in delivering contracts that are robust, free from risk, legally binding and importantly cost efficient and effective.

Ensuring that NHSBT can demonstrate to the public through the scrutiny of internal and external audit, that it obtains best value for money on its contracted non-pay expenditure and achieves savings targets.

You will ensure compliance with Public Contract Regulations including the legally mandated directives, policy notes and NHSBT Standing Orders and Financial Instructions

You may be required (with notice) to spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post.


Main duties of the job

  • You will work with the Senior Commercial Managers, suppliers and internal directorate customers to manage the contracting process end to end, to ensure that all interested parties needs are met.
  • You will be responsible for assisting the National Contracts Managers and National Procurement Manager in delivering contracts that are robust, free from risk, legally binding and importantly cost efficient and effective. Ensuring that NHSBT can demonstrate to the public through the scrutiny of internal and external audit, that it obtains best value for money on its contracted nonpay expenditure and achieves savings targets.
  • Supplier management to ensure in contract delivery of expected benefits to NHSBT from the contract and ensure supplier performance and where relevant supplier development.
  • You will ensure compliance with Public Contract Regulations including the legally mandated directives, policy notes and NHSBT Standing Orders and Financial Instructions
  • You may be required (with notice) to spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of working in a computerised office environment, preferably within procurement or logistics
  • Experience of formal contracting and drafting of amendments
  • Understanding of legislation relating to goods and services
  • Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Experience of using IT systems to produce reports and correspondence which are timely, professional and accurate, including financial data

Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to GCSE standard. Must include Mathematics and English Language or be able to demonstrate relevant experience in this area
  • Willing to study for Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
