£46.00 per direct teaching hour.


This includes the following elements:
teaching, preparation and marking of the scheduled programme of work.

(A flat rate of £18.40 will be paid for completing one of the above elements of the schedule.) Hours of work may vary, but there may be some flexibility regarding which days are worked each week.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals with the skills and experience to be part of our teaching team within Biosciences.

You will work approximately 100 hours per academic year and have the flexibility to fit in with the current timetable.

We are currently looking to recruit individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:


  • Microbiology and/or Biotechnology
  • Pharmacology and/or Physiology
  • Biochemistry and/or Molecular biology
  • Biomedical Science (particularly in Cellular Pathology)
  • Environmental Biology
  • Bioinformatics
  • Confocal and widefield microscopy
You will have responsibility for preparing and delivering lectures, seminars and laboratory sessions.

You would be expected to contribute to marking when required and provide appropriate teaching, learning, and pastoral support to students.

Therefore, you will have excellent planning, organisation, communication, time management and troubleshooting skills and be able to support student learning and development.

Exact duties included in this role will be discussed on an individual basis.


You will work under the direction of the respective Subject Group Leaders for Bioscience, which is part of the School of Science and Technology, located within our rapidly evolving Clifton Campus.

This is a multi-award-winning site within which we have opened an interdisciplinary science and technology building, with state-of-the-art bioscience research and teaching labs.

A medical technology innovation facility has been completed and a building for engineering opened in 2019.
