Arriva TrainCare are looking for a Technical Riding Inspector to join the team. This role will be based from our depot in Newcastle but will be onsite / on train based.
The primary focus of the Technical Riding Inspector is to travel on Train units and diagnose and repair faults, use diagnostic software to interrogate on-board systems, vehicle history for identifying repeat faults/rogue units, provide repairs where applicable / recommend repairs.
This is a light maintenance role and suit someone who has come from a engineering background.This is a shift based role and will require 7-day coverage (30 mins unpaid break). There will be a requirement to cover at short term notice as requested by the depot management team
Responsibilities
Primarily required to travel on units in service units, to diagnose and repair faults, use diagnostic software to interrogate on-board systems, vehicle history for identifying repeat faults/rogue units, provide repairs where applicable / recommend repairs.
Providing technical support to the customers maintenance planning regarding in service issues with the GC CL180 fleet, responding to service faults/failures as required.
Responsible for technical engineering support of GC CL180 to achieve the highest possible performance and reliability, to include inspection, fault diagnosis and solution development to technical and tooling issues.
Any other depot duties as and when required.
Support other workstreams as and when required at other ATC/Customer locations.
Provide effective technical support to the GC CL180s with regular communication to maintenance planning.
Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local instructions, establish safe methods of work.
Ensure Depot / Mainline Safety rules and regulations are always adhered to.
Ensure relevant work locations are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant standards.
The role will be a member of the GC engineering fleet on call.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
NVQ Level 3 qualification Traction and Rolling stock or recognised apprenticeship
Previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle in traffic fault rectification.
Able to interpret engineering drawings and provide technical solutions to problems.
Understanding of engineering, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Understanding of applicable health, safety and environmental standards and requirements, including ISO 9001 and 14001.
Class 180 or similar DMU maintenance experience.
Previous experience of carrying out station fitter or riding duties.
