Technician/Instructor in Automotive and Marine to join our innovative and highly motivated team.

on a
full time(37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year),
permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of
£26,749 - £29,375 per annum.

About the role:


As the
Technician/Instructor in Automotive and Marine, you willundertake Technician duties, generally in the Automotive and Marine workshops, stores and in other areas as directed, to assist Lecturers in the delivery and maintenance of trainingprogrammes.


Responsibilities as our Technician/Instructor in Automotive and Marine will include:

  • Contributing to high quality learning experiences using a variety of methods
  • Ensuring that the instruction is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard reflective of the work environment
  • Providing academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Supporting community/personal enrichment activities (including trips related to learning)
  • Implementing and maintaining maintenance schedules for all department equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Preparing Workshop vehicles and materials for use by students, lecturers and instructors
  • Cleaning and repairing apparatus, equipment and workshops to the standard required by awarding bodies for the delivery of their courses
  • Assisting with ordering materials as required whilst negotiating prices and discounts to ensure the College gets the best deal
  • Assisting in maintaining up to date knowledge on H&S legislation and holding responsibility for all H&S activities within the workshop
  • A willingness and technical ability to support Lecturers when appropriate

As our Technician/Instructor in Automotive and Marine, you'll ideally have:

  • Training provided by the College
  • A willingness to undertake further training and CPD as required
  • Working knowledge of the Automotive/Marine Industry
  • Health & Safety in the use of Engineering industry equipment
  • A confident speaker and demonstrator
  • Experience in interpersonal/presentation and negotiation skills with adults and young people
  • Initiative to deal with various teaching and learning situations
  • A willingness to work flexibly and outside of the typical working day to meet the needs of the College
