Fixed Term Consultant Orthodontist
8 PA's. Open to discussion regarding number of PA's

Applications are invited for a part time locum Consultant in Orthodontics for a period of twelve months.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, outstanding clinician to join our friendly team of Consultants in The Dept of Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry at The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, Brighton.


We are a busy training unit with 3 Orthodontic StR's, linked to King's College London (Guy's Campus) and 1 StR's in Paediatric Dentistry.

We run regular MDT clinics in Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. There are monthly MDT cleft clinics as part of the managed clinical network for cleft services in SE England.

Brighton and Hove is a thriving seaside city in south-east England. It has a vibrant social scene and is bordered by the South Downs. It is an easy commute from London by train.

The post holder would be expected to fulfil the following duties

  • Interact and work with Consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive hospital orthodontic service, maintaining compliance with the 18 week pathway targets.
  • Undertake outpatient new patient and follow up clinics, with supervision of trainees as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain good communication with consultant colleagues, General practitioners (medical and dental), colleagues in salaried dental services and local orthodontic specialist practitioners.
  • Undertake personal treatment sessions and have a significant multidisciplinary caseload including orthognathic, dentoalveolar, restorative, and paediatric dentistry.
Provide cover for Consultant colleagues during periods of leave or absence.
