Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our supported employment project, Grounds & Gardens, based out of Elm Tree Farm; a care farm where we support adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Grounds & Gardens provides a unique and rare opportunity for adults with learning disabilities and autism to undertake paid employment that offers professional training and the opportunity for a career.

This is an exciting time to join the project as we have recently taken on a number of new contracts in and around Bristol; including a beautiful country estate near Chew Valley lakes.

You would be joining at a time where we look to propel the project to next level and offer more supported employment opportunities.

This is a full-time position, covering 37.5 hours a week.

About the role

Working alongside another project leader, your primary role is to supervise and work with the cutting team to maintain the grounds maintenance contracts we have with local schools, councils, businesses, and charities.

We are an employer that seeks to empower our supported employees and encourage them wherever possible to gain new skills and continue with their professional development; you would play a vital role in achieving this aim.

Outside the practical aspect of the role you will support the team through regular supervisions, training and development as well as collaborating with admin tasks and seeking new business opportunities.

You will directly line manager three to four supported employees, who will look to you for guidance and you will also act as a role model in both the practical aspect of the role and as a person.

You will line manager a support worker and complete supervisions and appraisals, working with them to ensure they remain compliant with training and develop their career.

About you

You must have experience of using garden and grounds maintenance tools, including but not limited to, lawn mowers, grass trimmers, hedge cutters, brush cutters, as well as the practical knowledge and experience of maintaining both sports grounds, trees and residential gardens.

You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and be a good team worker.

With excellent communication skills, you'll be able to support people with a learning disability. You're self-motivated, organised and commercially aware and understand budgets and profit margins.

You should have experience of people management and an understanding of business.

You'll have Level 2 Maths and English qualifications (or able to demonstrate this capacity through assessment). A full driving licence is desirable.

We provide career development opportunities, training and a range of benefits including a pension and the option of an on-the-job apprenticeship.

Successful applicants for this role will require an Enhanced DBS check.
