Job Purpose

This lectureship is based in the Division of Urban Studies and Social Policy in the School of Social and Political Sciences.

You will conduct research on, and deliver teaching in, digital planning including principles and practices of digital planning systems, digital planning tools (e.g. digital twins, city information modelling, virtual reality and three-dimensional city mapping) and digital planning services.

The post holder will undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline, contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College's strategic objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities -4. Contribute to the on-going development and design of the curriculum in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment in the discipline and/or profession.

  • Participate fully in examination and other assessment processes, as appropriate, using a variety of methods and techniques and to provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning.
  • Supervise individual student projects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and to contribute to the supervision and training of postgraduate research students, as appropriate, to ensure their effective development.
  • Engage in professional development as appropriate.
  • To contribute to the enhancement of the University's international profile in line with the University's Strategic Plan - World Changers Together.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Qualifications

Essential:

A1. PhD or equivalent in digital planning or a related discipline.
A2. Membership of relevant Professional Society, if appropriate.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

C1. Research expertise and specialist knowledge of digital planning.
C2. Developing track record of research outputs compatible with enhancing the School's research profile in accordance with School objectives.
C3.

Good communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels within the Subject, Division, School, College, University, and beyond, in the academic, policy and practitioner communities.

C4. Engagement with the current and future priorities of School and College strategies, aims and ambitions.
C5. Ability to lead and deliver high quality and innovative University teaching, including assessment and curriculum development.


For Appointment at Grade 8:

C6.

Ability to contribute to broader leadership and management activities along with an awareness of current and future priorities of the University/College/School/Service.

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7/8, £39,347 - £44,263 /£48,350 - £56,021 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
