Beacon Support Ltd. are recruiting for a Specialist Support Professional - Deaf (SSP-D) to work with Higher Education students. The position offers flexible hours to work around you, whilst helping to make a difference to students' educational experiences.

We have students with sensory impairment who require one to one support with their higher education studies.

Tutors work with an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and act as facilitators to help students develop learning strategies that will improve their study skills and enable them to become independent learners.


Requirements:


  • Qualified Teacher of the Deaf
  • PGDip/MA/MSC in BSL/English Interpreting
  • MA Sign Linguistics
  • MA in Deaf Education with Teacher of the Deaf status
  • PgDiploma Inclusive Education (Deaf Learners)
  • MSc inclusive education with Postgraduate Diploma (deaf learners)
  • PG Dip/MA Deaf Education Studies (Teacher of the Deaf)
  • MA in Deaf Education Studies (Teacher of the Deaf)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Deaf Education
  • MSc Deaf Education
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.
D.) in Deaf Education

  • Doctor of Education (Ed.
D.) in Deaf Education

  • PG Cert Ed (Sight Impairment)
  • PGDiploma Education of the Hearing Impaired
OR

ANY Postgraduate qualification e.g. AFHE, FHEA, PGDip, PGDE, PGCE, MA, MSc, PhD etc.

PLUS a deaf-related specialist qualification


For example:

  • Deaf Studies degree
  • CSW qualification
  • BSL Level 4 or above
  • BA (Hons) in Interpreting (British Sign Language and English)
  • Applicants must be willing to meet with students on a facetoface basis if this is a request for their support provision._

  • Accurate spelling and grammar skills
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to maintain a confidential and professional working relationship
This is a fixed term/rolling contract.
