Solicitor - Military Personal Injury - Claimant - Cardiff - NQ-3PQE

My client, a Top 70 UK Law Firm, are looking to recruit a newly qualified (up to 3 PQE) personal injury solicitor to join their Military Team in Cardiff.

The department ensure service men and women have access to the expert specialist advice they need in order to bring a claim against the MoD due to their failure to adequately protect from illness or avoidable injury.

The team advise on a full range of areas, including military deafness and cold and health injuries. An estimated 300,000 ex-armed forces personnel in the UK suffer from noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and tinnitus.

These injuries are not inevitable consequencesof military life, and the MoD has a duty of care to safeguard employees from the risk of hearing damage.


The Role:


  • Taking initial enquiries from clients and drafting witness evidence
  • Considering and managing a high volume of disclosure of documents
  • Updating clients on their claim
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries from clients
  • Assisting in instructing counsel
  • Preparation of court documents
  • Preparation of detailed schedules of loss
  • Assessing complex medical conditions and consideration of medical issues/reports
  • Review of reports from acoustic engineering experts
  • Proactively managing own caseload with minimum supervision
  • Assisting with the supervision of the paralegal team
  • Exposure to the claimant litigation process is essential
  • Experience of independently managing a caseload
  • Previous experience of dealing with NIHL claims will be a distinct advantage
  • Experience from a Training Contract or First Year's practice in personal injury, clinical negligence or other claimant experience is also considered
