  • We're currently recruiting a Head of IT Services to join Blue Cross. As a member of our Information Services leadership team, in this exciting role, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the charity's core hosted and cloudbased technology infrastructure services as well as offering support to the specialists in their team who provide information security, architecture and service management to the wider IS Directorate.

  • This is a key leadership role within the Information Services Team who provide outstanding services and support to our user base of around 750 staff members who work onsite, hybrid or remote.
Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our CIO and peers in the Information Services Leadership Team to develop and realise the technology strategies required by the charity, particularly for the services this position is responsible for.
  • Drive the adoption of appropriate infrastructure and platformasaservice opportunities as part of a "cloud first" approach for technology service provisions.
  • Maintain the operational integrity, efficiency, resilience, and security of all infrastructure components, delivered through the line management of a team of Engineers.
  • To champion and support across the IS Directorate the remit of the following direct reports:


  • Service Desk Manager

  • IS Technical Architect
  • IS Service Manager
  • Information Security Analyst
  • Oversee the delivery of key technology services from suppliers owned by the IT Services department to ensure they meet defined service criteria aligned to business needs, ensuring that the relationship with the vendor is actively and appropriately managed.
  • Ensure Information Services has in place the appropriate capabilities to support identified Disaster Recovery scenarios, and work with the wider organisation to devise and offer access to technology services through alternative means to assist with their business continuity planning.
  • Lead the definition and monitoring of Asset and Capacity Management for services across the IS Directorate throughout the lifecycle.

Other duties and responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and develop the IT Services team, providing clear direction and coaching, supporting the overall prioritised goals for the IS Directorate.
  • As a member of the IS Leadership Team, contribute to all areas of Blue Cross technology and data strategy, plans, and policies, risk management and people development.
  • Collaborate with management peers reporting to the CIO to promote and realise overall goals for the Information Services Directorate.
  • Budget management for the IT Services department of both opex and capex.

Service Delivery and Maintenance

  • Line management of a team of Engineers responsible for the detailed technical service design, procurement, installation, deployment and ongoing management, including service improvement and change, for all IT services Blue Cross operates for all hosting arrangements.
  • Tracking and lifecycle management of all Blue Cross supplied IT included PCs, smartphones, servers and networking equipment.

Service Desk Management

  • Line management of Service Desk Manager to oversee its daytoday management.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Service Desk is suitably resourced and capable of managing the scope of support to the Blue Cross enduser community.

Service Delivery and Management

  • Line management of a Service Manager to oversee the ITIL4aligned service management including technical change management, design, transition, operation, continuous improvement and retirement of all Technology and Data services across IS.
  • Defined and agreed support in place during the working day and outofhours to meet Blue's Cross's evolving operational needs across its services.

Information Security

  • Line management of an Information Security Analyst who is responsible for ensuring appropriate technical and organisational controls are identified and in place in Blue Cross and with its keys technology providers to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Blue Cross data "in transit" and "at rest".
  • Support the Information Security Analyst in the successful maintenance of Cyber Essentials + certification.

Architecture

  • Support the IS Technical Architect in ensuring that technology services used and deployed within Blue Cross meet a defined standards including availability, reliability, scalability, performance, security and overall alignment to the Information Services strategy.
  • Champion the implementation of the appropriate software, infrastructure and platformasaservice capabilities for Blue Cro
