Job purpose


The core purposes for this role is to ensure a smooth and efficient depot operation by assisting the transport department with transport planning and scheduling.

This requires liaising with drivers across the depot and our project managers. This position is also responsible for guaranteeing our logístical operations are safe and legal.


Main duties and responsibilities
To be ambitious and a hardworking professional who thrives under pressure and can think on their feet. The Transport Coordinators main responsibilities is to be highly organised and solve problems creatively.

Directly reporting to the Transport Leader, your day-to-day responsibilities will be as follows:

Transport Planning

  • Assisting the transport department with transport planning and job allocations to drivers across the branch.
  • Advanced planning and preparation of job sheets for drivers ready for the next day.
  • Realtime transport rescheduling of drivers when and where required
  • Managing drivers across the branch, including start and finish times and quality of paperwork.
  • Keeping internal and external (client) contacts up to date regarding changes to projects and timescales.

Health & Safety and Compliance

  • Ensuring all drivers have the correct qualifications for their role and all qualifications are up to date.
  • Logging any accidents/ near misses and liaising with the accounts department whilst dealing with subsequent insurance claims accordingly.
  • Organising ongoing driver training and ensuring that they're competent.
  • Assisting the transport department with managing driver infringements, investigating unaccounted mileage and keeping the operator's license up to date.

Qualifications and Position Traits

Qualifications includes:


  • GCSE's and A Level (or equivalent) preferred
  • Full Drivers License
  • Have strong computer literacy required, including intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Have the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Have a good use of intuition and problem solving skills for productive outcomes.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Must be prepared to support the transport department with transport planning out of office hours occasionally.
  • Calm under pressure and an ability to adapt to lastminute changes as well as enjoying them.
  • Must not be afraid to take ownership and responsibilities.
