Design Coordinator - UK North Construction

Role

We are recruiting for a Design Coordinator to join our UK North Construction business unit due to a number of signed PCSA's, advanced tenders and healthy order book for next year.

To co-ordinate the design flow between all parties.

To provide sufficient, accurate information to allow the safe construction of the project and to provide quality, cost effective and environmentally friendly solutions in line with the contract documents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the design recognises all aspects of health & safety, environmental and quality related matters.
  • Input into the selection of design sub contractors.
  • Assist CM/QS in checking Employers Requirements/Cost Proposal Compatibility.
  • Chair and minute Design meetings and ensure production of information in line with the design programme.
  • Liaise with the site team to ensure buildable and robust details with the agreement of the construction team.
  • Check subcontractors/design drawings for compliance and interface.
  • Work with the site team (incl. QS) to consider alternatives.
  • Report on the effectiveness of the design team and design subcontractor.
  • Liaise with the M&E Coordination to ensure compatibility of building and services.
  • Add value and reduce cost to the building without decreasing the buildings durability or reducing any warranty.
  • Communicate design opportunities and risks to RDM.
  • Compile, record and manage informationrequired documents.
  • Communicate changes/variations with site QS.
Management Responsibilities

  • Mange design consultants and sub consultants along with design subcontractors to ensure correct and timely delivery of all design related information for the execution of the works on site.

Experience & Skills

  • Have an understanding of different Client procurement routes
  • Experience of site/contract procedures would be an advantage.
  • Ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads
  • Understanding of Building Regulations and Planning Permission procedures.

  • Commercial awareness

Required Training

  • OND / ONC Building Studies
  • Minimum two years construction industry experience
