Key Result Areas

  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders becoming a key trusted adviser by working collaboratively, engaging positively, managing expectations and understanding the business
  • Provide SHE specialist advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Responsible for effective and efficient management of employee interactions on SHE topics
  • Identify and assess any risks/costs to the business and manage these appropriately, escalating if required
  • Support and advise managers undertaking business change initiatives
  • Coach staff through SHE processes, giving appropriate support and challenge, to ensure that they are best equipped to implement SHE Compliance
  • Assist in the development of regular SHE reporting to furnish managers with information and allow for data informed decision making
  • Prepare documentation in line with health and safety and environmental legal requirements including, but not limited to COSHH and Risk assessments
  • Advise on policy and process development, implementation and review ensuring documentation is compliant and aligned to best practise as well as aligned to the Mowi Scotland and global framework
  • Lead or take an active role in SHE projects
  • Coach and mentor Safety Representatives and others discharging a safety function on behalf of Mowi
  • Undertake incident investigations, reporting on conclusions and remedial actions, including recommendations if disciplinary process should be instigated.
  • Any other duties required

Skills & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:


  • NVQ 4 or NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety essential
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management desirable

Skills:


  • Knowledge of legal frame work for health and safety and environmental matters within Scotland
  • Knowledge and ability to write risk assessments and COSHH assessments
  • Ability to take ownership of incident investigations
  • Ability to work at pace and juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and work in a changing environment
  • Ability to take full ownership of remit
  • Ability to operate as an advocate for SHE compliance
  • Ability to find pragmatic solutions that are aligned to culture, and take account of the organisations goals
  • Professional and credible
  • Approachable with the ability to be a positive influence within the workforce
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain confidence
  • Positive attitude to safety is essential
  • Organised, systematic approach
  • Essential written skills for report and risk assessment writing
  • Good communicator

Experience:


  • Experience of working with people of supporting the SHE requirements of an organisation
  • Experience of participating in and delivering on SHE continuous improvement (Essential)
  • Experience of COSHH and Risk assessments
  • Experience of undertaking site SHE inspections
  • NEBOSH General Certificate essential
  • Could be suitable for a new graduate looking for their first job
