Description
To support medical examiners in their role in scrutinising the circumstances and causes of death. To be a point of contact and source of advice for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals and coroner and registration services


Obtain and carry out a preliminary review of relevant medical records to develop a case file setting out the circumstances of each death.

Discuss proposed causes of death with doctors who treated the deceased and advise about coroner referral.


Contact and speak with the bereaved before the cause of death certificate is issued to establish any concerns or questions about the death including communities deaths.


The Medical Examiner system has been in place at the Trust for the past three years and is therefore a relatively new initiative.


We have built up a core number Medical Examiner Officers in that time who also work with Medical Examiners, who work as part of the team on a rota basis.


The system has been in place so far to scrutinise deaths that have occurred within the Trust and is expanding to include all non-coronial deaths in the three boroughs that we serve, Harrow, Brent and Ealing.

We are looking for a part time one Medical Examiner Officers to join our team, The role will involve working across both Medical Examiner offices in Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals, ideally we are looking for someone to work between 10am and 2:30pm four days a week
