Salary - £29,733 to £31,553 Dependent on experience

Fully site based

Permanent and Full Time (37 hours per week - you will be on the on-call rota)

  • UKCEH is looking for an experienced Estates Maintenance Officer to join our 600strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

Working alongside the Senior Maintenance Officer, looking after the facilities of this exciting building, which is home to a mix of scientists and professional services staff.

You will need confident communication skills, as you will be a vital point of contact for contractors and their management whilst on site.

Responding to requests via a helpdesk, providing a proactive approach to maintenance and repair of a wide range of site plant and equipment, including coordinating inspections and servicing.

  • Your main responsibilities will include:


  • Contractor Management

  • including induction, health & safety, supervision and compliance-
  • Maintenance and planned preventative maintenance of the building and a wide range of site plant and equipment-
  • Carrying out repairs, engineering tasks and maintenance requests generated from the Helpdesk-
  • Statutory and regulatory compliance checks, identifying/actioning non-compliances-
  • Accurate record keeping and asset management-
  • Supporting the Workplace Manager
  • For the role of Estates Maintenance Officer, we are looking for somebody who:
  • Has experience in building services maintenance / facilities services-
  • Has an understanding and awareness of building services compliance requirements-
  • Has good time management skills, able to reprioritise tasks in a busy and changing environment-
  • Has good working knowledge of building health & safety requirements-
  • Has awareness of specialist waste disposal, waste electrical and electronic recycling (WEEE) and control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)-
  • Has intermediate skills in Microsoft 365, especially Outlook, Word and Excel-
  • Has good attention to detail and understands the importance of accurate record keeping-
  • Is a confident communicator and can support a continuous improvement approach
