Description

The SLT service in East Suffolk covers the full range of clinical specialisms, including aphasia, dysphagia, stroke, progressive neurological conditions, learning disability and ENT.

We offer a countywide service to adults with learning disability. We provide videofluoroscopy and FEES assessments to inpatients, outpatients and our community caseloads. We are within Integrated Therapies and therefore have excellent links to our MDT colleagues, including shared CPD opportunities.

Opportunities can arise to work across these pathways, affording staff members the chance to explore areas of interest, within the needs of the service.

All teams are supported by our skilled SLT apprentices and assistants. The service champions research, innovation and development. We are proud to be supporting our stroke specialist to complete her pre-doctorate study into jargon aphasia.

The service lead and a newly-qualified therapist in the team were recently highly commended in the Research Impact category of the CAHPO awards for a research project that they published using clinical data.

The team are actively engaged in service improvement projects including the use of EMST, reviewing respiratory pathways and looking at service redesign.

The Trust is committed to developing leadership skills for staff at all levels. We welcome enquiries and would be happy to arrange an informal visit to the Department.

For full details of the responsibilities of this role please see the attached job description.
