It's an exciting time to come and join the Sepura team.

We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and self-motivated RF graduate engineer to join the RF Team working on secure critical communications platforms, handsets and mobile products.

The RF Graduate Engineer will be involved in bring up, evaluation and characterisation of RF components, subsystems and systems, working as part of a team designing and developing our next generations of mobile and handset products targeted towards secure critical communications markets.

As a RF graduate engineer, you will be exposed to all aspects of RF design from components, LNAs, PAs, synthesisers, oscillators, modulators and demodulators, filters and mixers to subsystems transmitters, receivers and frequency generators to systems LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GNSS and TETRA radios.

Working with the team you will experience the full product lifecycle from concept through to production and aftermarket support.

Come and join Sepura Ltd at an exciting time of growth and progress your career within this innovative technology company, based in Waterbeach, Cambridge.

Your Role

You will join a RF project team, workign under the guidance of a senior team member you will be involved in the bring up, evaluation and characterisation of new radio hardware, determining its performance from a component level to a system level and ensuring it is fit for purpose.

You will be involved in testing of components, subsystems and systems, as integration of the radio hardware proceeds, generating test reports and interpreting the data for compliance to specifications and performance expectations.

You will be an integral team member and expected to develop your RF knowledge and knowledge of radio standards to cover all aspects of RF evaluation and characterisation.

Developing under the guidance of experienced engineers' knowledge of RF performance parameters and their effects on system level performance.

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic engineer, a team player keen to develop their knowledge and experience in the field of RF design and test, evaluating a variety of RF component and system parameters, ensuring fit for purpose design centred solutions.

You will be mentored and supported by your team members and RF Manager to grow and develop skills and knowledge and experience in the field of RF design for wireless communication systems.

Your Day to Day
Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world.

Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges.

Our critical communications products are adding more and more radio capability integrating Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GNSS capability and we expect 5G to be added in the near future.

These radios require significant effort to determine they meet the performance and quality expectations that our customers rely on.

With multiple radios integrated into a handset, the must first be evaluated and optimised in isolation before integration into the handheld or mobile system and evaluated as a product.

Where issues are found you will be involved in the debugging and investigation of issues, ultimately root causing the issues and identifying and validating solutions to mitigate or resolve those issues.

There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business, Baseband, Conformance, Production test Engineering, Project Management and the Design Authority office, activities you will be responsible for include

  • Design of radio subsystem blocks
  • Performing measurements on RF components, subsystems and systems
  • Investigating and debugging non compliances
  • Optimising radio performance i.e. linearity, power, noise etc.
  • Delivering test reports and analysing test data to confirm fit for purpose solutions

Global travel is unlikely to be part of the role, local travel to test houses for radiated performance testing, and UK travel for training is likely, so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence and their own car.

Travel expenses will be paid.

The role is full time, office based at our offices in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK.
