Job summary:


We are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner on a
fixed term contract for
12 months to provide a service to an emerging company that provides the Livestock Information Service (LIS).

The position is based at our HQ with occasional travel for meetings.


Established in 2019, LI Ltd has an ambition to enable a more sustainable and competitive meat and livestock sector through its single, modern, and efficient traceability service.

The service has replaced the three existing livestock movement services in England and become an important national tool to better control endemic livestock diseases.


Working in partnership with both industry and government, LI Ltd successfully launched its sheep, goat and deer movement service and livestock identification service earlier this year.

LI Ltd is a data led organisation and is taking a new approach to capturing and unlocking data to drive positive changes in livestock productivity and sustainability.

This position is available as either a
secondment opportunity or a
Fixed Term Contract for up to 12
months.


AHDB are moving to new premises in Coventry (CV3) from April 2023, just a short distance from our current location in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.

We will continue to offer hybrid working - two/three days per week from Coventry and the remainder remotely from home.


Job description:


  • Work with the LI Ltd Finance Director, to proactively manage the process for the preparation of monthly accounts and associated projects in line with agreed deadlines
  • Provide insightful explanations of variances, detailed risks and opportunities along with mitigating actions for the management accounts and any other reports
  • Support the reviews and further production of project proposals as and when required
  • Maintain and further develop modelling, forecasting, reconciliation, and financial reporting requirements for LI Ltd
  • Lead liaison requirements with external stakeholders' finance teams (AHDB and DEFRA)
  • Ensure compliance with all LI Ltd and AHDB governance rules and relevant accounting standards, including dealing with queries from internal and external auditors, Defra and external advisors as necessary

Person specification:


  • Previous experience of working in the public sector would be advantageous
  • Ability to build forward thinking working relationships so as to positively influence and improve the financial performance of the function
  • Ability to 'partner' nonfinance staff leading to successful outcomes
  • Have a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to nonfinance staff.
  • Ability to improve or establish policies, systems and processes.
  • Highly computer literate, including advanced use of Microsoft Office products and experience of using modern ERP systems including the use of system interrogation tools
  • Experience of the Agresso ERP system is desirable
