Description
The purpose of the role of the Ward Housekeeper is to play an integral role in
developing environmental standards of care for patients.

They will support the senior ward sister/charge nurse in the management of the environment and focus on reaching standards that are important aspects of care delivery, such as cleanliness, catering services and maintenance of a safe, comfortable environment.

The ward housekeeper will be an integral member of the ward team and
managed by the ward senior sister/charge nurse. The housekeeper service will be provided on a daily basis. The post requires some flexibility in working pattern dependent upon the needs of the ward. It is
the responsibility of the ward sister/charge nurse to plan working pattern in liaison with the postholder.


The role of the ward housekeeper will be evaluated with ward sisters/charge nurses and postholders and will include patient's views.

This job description outlines the current main responsibilities of the post.

However the duties of the post may change and develop over time and this job description may, therefore be amended in consultation with the postholder.
