Description

As the post holder you will have a knowledge and understanding of the Safeguarding agenda for Maternity and Neonatal services, work closely with the Director of Maternity and other managers within the maternity service and provide support and advice to staff on safeguarding procedures and policies.


The post holder will be the Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children within the Women and Newborn Division at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

This will involve taking lead to ensure ensure the requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), Health and Social Care Act & Care Act are met.

This work will incorporate the key elements of the Children Acts (1989 and 2004) and Working Together to Safeguard Children and the Care Quality Commission Core Standards.


The named Midwife for Safeguarding will establish and maintain robust systems and processes to ensure the service meets local and national recommendations in relation to safeguarding and child protection training, reporting, participation in serious case reviews and supervision for midwives.

They will also ensure all Maternity staff are able to identify concerns and understand their duty to act in accordance with current guidance, policy, and legislation to safeguard the welfare and rights of all children and adults.
