Lions Sports Academy Overview

Founded in 2016, we believe in providing affordable opportunities that inspire children and young adults to realise their potential through participation in sport and physical activity.

We do this through three business areas, Sports Clubs and Camps, Schools and our
Athlete Development Programme.

The coaching is supported by our associate coaches network (Lions Coaches Network), boasting 100+ coaches from professional sportspeople to highly qualified and passionate coaches and university students.

Our goal is to expand and support the whole of the UK within the next 5 years.


Overall Purpose of the Job

At Lions Sports Academy we want to make a difference in children and young people's lives, giving them the chance to develop as individuals, not only through physical activity but mentally and emotionally as well, with the chance to socialise, create, play, solve problems and learn new life skills.

We are hugely passionate about building confidence and relationships through sport while offering engaging and enjoyable experiences to help them be the best version of themselves.

We do this through our passionate and professional delivery of coaching support to
Schools, Sports Clubs and organisations.

Building relationships with them as well as the children and young adults we try to inspire you will be the 'front' motivating and being a positive role model and developing children and young adults.


The purpose of this job is to be responsible for the delivery and planning of high quality coaching sessions to Lions Sports Academy partner clubs.


Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Job
These will evolve over time but the main areas of focus to begin with will be:

  • To plan fun engaging sessions which show the progression of each individual
  • To have clear transparent communication to Lions
  • Working independently, managing your own resources and professional development.
  • Dealing professionally sports clubs
  • Reporting feedback to students/players, staff, and parents
  • Taking initiative and leading on delegated areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring a professional appearance and approach to work.
  • Promoting equality and diversity in sport, and active health and wellbeing.

Key Reporting/Stakeholder Relationships
The role reports directly to the Operations and Coaches Network Manager


Key Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Essential
/Desirable


  • Level 2 qualification, with experience in rugby
  • Desirable
  • Hold or able to obtain a DBS
  • Essential
  • Own a car and/or prepared to travel, within reason for various coaching opportunities
  • Essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills allied to an outgoing, confident and positive personality, allowing meaningful and effective relationships to be built at all levels
  • Essential
  • Passionate about sport and increasing participation
  • Essential
  • Qualified in first aid
  • Desirable
