We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in anticipation of the pending retirement of an existing colleague.
The successful applicant will join a 1 in 6 on-call Paediatric Orthopaedic Trauma rota and provide Adult Elective services to complement the needs of our department in Lower Limb and/or Hand Surgery.
Based predominantly between Woodend Hospital and the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, both located in Aberdeen, this post is offered on a whole-time basis.
The Orthopaedic Department provides a comprehensive Trauma and Elective service for patients in the Grampian region. In addition it acts as a tertiary referral centre for the Highland, Shetland and Orkney regions. Aberdeen hosts the North of Scotland Major Trauma Centre.There is an active research and teaching programme, with close links to the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon's University.
The appointee will be eligible for Honorary Senior Lecturer status with the University of Aberdeen and will be actively involved in under- and post-graduate education as well as having opportunity to pursue research interests.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
