This Charity, and Not for Profit organisation in Liverpool is looking for a Finance Supervisor to join their talented and dedicated finance team.

The role is 37 hours per week and offers hybrid working, so although the role is predominantly WFH you willbe expected to attend an office once a week and for business-critical meetings.

It is 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays) and offers an excellent civil service pension scheme.


This position plays a key role in supporting the financial management of the business by ensuring all payment and receivable processes are robust, to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.


Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor the effectiveness of the system of internal financial control, including managing delegated staff authorisation across the organisation
  • Responsible for the management of the Banking and Control team (three employees)
  • Maintain a procedure manual for the finance team
  • Oversee and manage bank balances to maximise interest and minimise charges
  • Manage a fast monthend close to agreed standards
  • Maintain information and report on Finance Team quality standards and KPI's
  • Supervise colleagues responsible for the following tasks
  • Preparing information for input and input details into the accounting system
  • Assisting with the production of payments, income collection, banking, expenses, credit card and operation of any other standard processes used in the team
  • Maintaining and updating reconciliation and control records outside the accounting system as required
  • Preparing information for regular financial returns e.g., VAT returns
  • Providing backup support for payroll processing
  • Dealing effectively with enquiries from external parties and colleagues relating to financial transactions
  • Liaising with colleagues to ensure that incompletely authorised transactions are corrected and completed within relevant timescales
  • Monitoring workflow taking necessary action on a timely basis
  • Prepare and submit the VAT return
The Person

  • You will be AAT Qualified (or equivalent qualification/level) and have proven track record of supervisory management
  • You will have experience of working in a transaction processing environment and be able to identify, manage and mitigate risks inherent in finance processes
  • You will have an excellent level of IT literacy and proficiency
  • An effective communicator, you will be well versed in working with people at all levels inside and outside of an organisation, able to explain complex concepts easily
