About Us:


The Events Team sits within the Business Improvement Team at EPSRC, providing planning, organisational and logístical support of corporate events to teams across the wider organisation.


Job Overview:


As part of a small Events team, you will work in partnership with many colleagues across EPSRC to manage and support external corporate and delivery events (such as workshops, show cases and conferences) to engage with our various scientific communities and stakeholders in line with EPSRC's objectives.

The role includes providing support at in-person events across the UK, requiring regular travel and overnight stays.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Planning and managing support of EPSRC events and ensuring events are completed to a high standard and to timescale and meet the agreed requirements of the commissioning officer
  • Delivery of a range of physical and hybrid events, to include workshops, show cases and conferences in consultation with commissioning officers across EPSRC
  • Effective staff and resource management and delivery of events by event coordinators
  • Effective working relationships with other delivery and partner organisations to deliver high quality, cost effective events
  • Effective working relationships with colleagues and suppliers to deliver high quality, cost effective and innovative ways to deliver events
  • Update and manage best practice documents as a resource for colleagues across EPSRC and source of expertise in event management.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • A positive approach and the ability to work independently, flexibly and contribute as part of a team and with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Effective organisation and planning skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage complex activities and a varied workload (including conflicting demands)
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office packages: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and an ability to learn new systems
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, presentational and written)
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight.
Desirable

  • Stakeholder focused to deliver events, while meeting the requirements of EPSRC's corporate objectives
  • Recent experience in an event commissioning role
