I am working with a Local Authority based in Sutton who are looking for a Pensions Finance and Investment Manager for 7 Months Initially.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying £500 Umbrella per day. The role is in scope of IR35.

The role is hybrid working with at least one or two days a week in the office.

Job Purpose


The post holder is required to support the Head of Pensions Investment to provide efficient financial administration, investment advice, monitoring, implementation and guidance to either the Sutton or Kingston pension fund, and is responsible for all financialreporting and investment-related activities of the fund.

The post holder will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team of the service to provide inspirational leadership and drive cultural change to ensure the service reflects the INSPIRE values and achievesexcellent outcomes.

The post holder will primarily support one Borough's Pension Fund but will be required to be flexible and may at times be required to provide support to the other Fund.


Accountabilities:


  • Provide day to day management and professional supervision to staff to ensure operational plans and activities are delivered effectively.
  • Provide assurance that the pension funds' operations are being conducted within defined regulatory, statutory and professional standards.
  • Lead small projects and implement changes and improvements within agreed cost, time and quality standards.
  • Deliver investment allocations and performance in line with the agreed investment strategy for the pension fund
  • Support the Head of Pensions Investments and Pensions Committee/Panel to decide, plan, execute and deliver all investment activities relating to the pension funds and ensure the funds get value for money from internal and external service providers.

Knowledge and Experience:


  • Recognised accounting or investment qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Experience within the public sector pension fund sector and of fund management processes
  • Experience of producing pension fund annual accounts, government returns and other financial reports
  • Experience of producing budgets and business plans
  • Understanding of roles of custodians, valuers, performance reporting providers and other third parties in the fund management chain
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills to create, interrogate and manipulate data to compile financial reports
