Job Purpose


The British Motor Museum is looking for a new, creative Marketing Assistant to undertake a mix of B2B and B2C marketing.


As an integral member of a small and dynamic marketing team, this role will help generate income from the Museum's purpose-built conference centre as well as contributing to a range of marketing across the Trust's charitable activities.


As the key income generator for the charitable trust, the conference business requires a keen marketeer who will, with the support of the Marketing Manager, proactively collaborate with the conference sales team to create and implement regular lead generation campaigns.

This B2B element will occupy around half of the role, with the other half spent on a range of B2C activities to help raise the profile of the Museum.


This role would ideally suit a recent graduate or someone in the early stages of their Marketing career, looking for practical, all-round experience in a busy marketing team.

You should be proactive and organised with a confident, professional manner and unafraid to present new and creative ideas.


Main Duties

  • Collaborate with the conference sales team to identify and implement creative campaigns to generate new leads.
  • Research topical content and draft conference blog posts and testimonials.
  • Monitor and benchmark competitors and suggest ideas and improvements to marketing content.
  • Regularly review and update website content.
  • Work with our external design agency to produce marketing collateral for online and print resources as required.
  • Work with the conference sales team to review advertising opportunities and source, negotiate and book adverts and promotions accordingly.
  • Build relationships with third parties through research and networking.
  • Monitor and update British Motor Museum conference and leisure listings on relevant thirdparty online sites.
  • Act as the point of contact (on the day) for clients, stakeholders, press, regional agencies, film companies etc. visiting the Museum.
  • Monitor and share press releases with key stakeholders and third parties.
  • Develop and maintain a strong photographic library and resize images as required.
  • Edit and update inhouse menus, forms and signage based on existing templates.
  • Assist in the organisation of conference exhibitions and museum outreach events and act as a representative at such events (this will require some/occasional weekend work)

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attributes Required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and copy writing skills, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to proofread effectively.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workloads in a busy environment.
